Study: Taller people lead happier lives

A new study shows that taller individuals have a more positive outlook on life and report experiencing more positive emotions such as enjoyment and happiness. While previous studies could not link income and happiness, the new study shows a positive correlation between height and happiness and height and income.

According to the study published in Economics and Human Biology, taller individuals live better lives, adding that they have higher incomes and better education.

Compared to their shorter counterparts, men taller than the average height of 177.8cm believed themselves to have the best possible life. Those who rated their lives as the "worst possible" were reported to be an inch shorter than average.

While women scored higher than men, there was a less considerable difference between the perception of women taller and shorter than 162.6cm toward life.

"Surprisingly people who say that their lives are the 'best possible' are slightly shorter on average than those who are a step or two below," said lead researchers Angus Deaton.

The study also showed that whilst taller men worry less, tall women have a tendency to over-worry.

"Height does matter, it's always mattered for a very obvious reason - when you are born you are shorter than the people who look after you and have authority over you," scientists concluded.
